Ensemble (group up to five members) - $3 per person
No individual may participate in more than three events (performances) .
Registration Deadline
All money must be given to Mr. Scott by the following date:
February 17th, 2017
Commitment
Although our goal is to have many students participate in the Solo & Ensemble Festival, we also must be represented by individuals that display the character and discipline of our band. All students that wish to participate must play for Mr. Scott before they will be allowed to perform for judges at S&E. This allows Lead to continue to perform at a high level, while protecting students from what could be a bad experience.
Music Selection
Music must be selected from an approved list that is provided by the state. Mr. Scott has several books that students can look through to select their performance piece. Solos must be played with an accompaniment. This will sometimes limit selection options to pieces that have accompaniments readily available. Unfortunately, popular songs (ex. Disney, radio hits, Broadway tunes, etc.) are not allowed to be played for S&E. These selections are great for at home practice and entertaining family and friends, but our selections for S&E are directed at stretching the student's technical ability; a task most easily accomplished through the classical music genre.
Attire
Students are NOT required to wear standard concert attire. However, students do need to be dressed in a professional manner. No jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, hats, excessive jewelry, or other distracting articles of clothing should be worn. Concert attire can serve as standard to judge if an outfit is appropriate. As always, consult Mr. Scott with specific questions.

When should I arrive?
- Please arrive about 30-45mins before your perfromance time for an adequate warm-up and to locate your performance room. Rooms may change so please leave enough time to troubleshoot.
Where do I go when I get there?
- You will most likely enter the school through a hallway beside their gym. Mr. Scott will be set up in that location. You can unpack, leave your case, warm-up, and return to this space throughout the day.
Who's in the room while I perform?
It will be you or your group and a judge. No other people will be allowed in the space.
Can my parents or supporters listen while I play?
Yes, but they can’t be in the room with you. They will be able to hear most things from right outside the door.
What do I bring in the room?
If you are performing a solo, you will need to have a CD with your accompaniment (piano) track on it. You will need to bring in a CD player (Mr. Scott has two, but if you have your own, please bring it), your copy of the music along with a copy for the judge to see.
When will I receive my rating?
You will usually receive your rating a few moments after your performance. Remember, you’re here not just for the rating, but for the specific feedback around your performance.
