About UsLead Academy was founded in 2011 with the goal of allowing every student to succeed. During the second year of the school's existence, the band program was added as a way of supporting academic growth, as there are overwhelming studies to support that music education creates growth in other subjects, and as a vehicle to build community. The band has taken off in recent years. During the 2015-16 school year, several students were selected for chairs in the Greenville County Band and the South Carolina Band Director's Association's (SCBDA) Region Band. In that same year, the band was awarded an Excellent rating at the SCBDA's Concert Performance Assessment. The following year, the band was awarded the highest rating of Superior at the same event. With the continued hard work by the members of the band, more accolades and awards will no doubt be in the band's future.

Who We Are |
Lead Academy band students are committed to excellence in all that they do. They stand out as some of the best achievers both academically and personally. Band students exemplify the core values of Lead Academy. We carry ourselves and treat others with respect. We work hard to achieve our goals. We play for the enjoyment of others. We have more fun than can be imagined.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle. |
About the Director |
I am a native of Laurens, SC. I got my start in music in 4th grade when I decided to join the strings program at my school. At the end of middle school, I joined the band and continued to participate in both ensembles through high school. After graduating from Furman University in 2011, I joined Lead Academy and built the band program from scratch. Away from Lead, I enjoy spending time with my wife, son, and two dogs.
